ODDJOB.CA IS HIRING: SENIOR TECHNICIAN
(Field Leader – Autonomy, Multi-Trade, High-End Homes)
Who This Is Really For
You’ve spent years building your skills.
Drywall. Carpentry. Paint. Tile. Light plumbing and electrical.
You know what good work looks like.
The hard part isn’t the work.
It’s finding a company that cares about professionalism, systems, and pride the way you do.
If you want:
• Independence in the field
• A fully equipped mobile workshop
• A performance-based pay model that actually rewards you
• And ZERO interest in chasing your own leads or running your own back office
…then the Senior Technician role at ODDJOB.CA might be exactly what you’ve been looking for.
This is not a gig.
This is a **field leadership** role.
About ODDJOB.CA
We’ve been Toronto’s trusted handyman and small-project service for nearly 20 years, especially in high-end homes and professional spaces where details matter.
Our mission: **Make life more comfortable** by handling the jobs clients don’t have time, tools, or energy to do properly.
Our values:
1. We Invest in People
2. Customers are Partners
3. Our Work is Our Craft
4. Stay Hungry
5. Organization is the Key to Success
If those sound like how you already operate, keep reading.
What the SENIOR TECH Role Looks Like
A Senior Technician at ODDJOB.CA is more than “the person who can fix things.”
You are the **lead on site**.
You will:
• Take ownership of residential and light commercial jobs from start to finish.
• Lead the work, the client communication, and the standards on every site.
• Mentor Junior Technicians and apprentices in “the Odd Job way.”
Day-to-day, that means you:
• Run multi-trade jobs: carpentry, drywall, paint, tiling/caulking, light plumbing, and light electrical (within handyman scope).
• Scope, plan, and prep jobs before day-of (materials, tools, Jobber notes).
• Execute work to a high standard – no cut corners, no “good enough.”
• Communicate clearly with homeowners, property managers, and the office.
• Conduct final walkthroughs, handle escalations professionally, and get sign-off.
• Keep your mobile workshop (company truck) and tools tidy, stocked, and audit-ready.
• Coach junior staff on safe, tidy, and efficient work.
You’ll have autonomy over:
• Your mobile workshop setup (within company standards)
• Your on-site workflow and problem-solving
• How you lead and train juniors
We provide:
• The brand, the systems, the marketing, the leads, and the admin support.
You provide:
• Craftsmanship, leadership, and consistency.
How the Pay Works (Performance-Based, With Protection)This is **not** straight hourly.
It’s a **structured revenue-share model** built for skilled, organized tradespeople.
1. Onboarding / Transition
• You receive a **base guarantee** while learning our systems and standards.
• You’ll run jobs while we confirm fit, quality, and consistency.
2. Once confirmed as a Senior Technician:
• Your base share starts around **24% of labour revenue** you produce.
• You can earn **additional percentage bonuses** for:
– Clean system and communication audits (Jobber use, notes, photos, time logs)
– Vehicle organization and inventory standards
– Production rates (billable revenue per hour)
– Sales performance (upsells, on-site estimates, conversion rate)
3. Top performers:
• Access **profit sharing** and higher bonus tiers.
• Have a clear pathway toward **Master Technician** and training/lead roles.
If you:
• Plan ahead
• Communicate well
• Keep the truck tidy
• Hit production targets
• Protect reviews and client experience
…you earn **well above** typical hourly handyman rates.
If you want to coast, ignore systems, or resist standards, this will feel rough.
The model is built to **reward pros and push out the wrong fit.**
What You’ll Actually Do
On a typical week, you might:
• Adjust doors, repair trim, and complete small carpentry repairs.
• Patch and skim drywall, then paint to a clean, finished standard.
• Handle minor tiling repairs and caulking in bathrooms and kitchens.
• Replace faucets, shutoffs, and traps within handyman scope.
• Swap light fixtures, dimmers, and switches (within code and scope).
• Lead small multi-trade projects from quote to completion.
• Train a junior on your job – how to set up, protect surfaces, and stay organized.
• Use Jobber to review scopes, log time, upload photos, and close out jobs.
Every job is a balance of:
• Craftsmanship
• Client care
• Organization
• Efficient use of time and materials
Who Thrives Here (and Who Doesn’t)
You’ll thrive here if you:
• Have **7+ years** of hands-on experience across multiple trades.
• Are confident running jobs solo in occupied, high-value homes.
• Naturally take charge on sites – without bulldozing people.
• Keep your truck and tools clean, organized, and ready.
• Are comfortable with smartphone tools (Jobber, photos, messaging).
• Want performance-based pay with real upside, not just “more hours.”
• Actually like mentoring juniors and raising the standard in the trade.
This is not for you if you:
• Hate systems, checklists, and documentation.
• Get annoyed when asked to communicate clearly with clients or the office.
• Don’t want responsibility for a truck, materials, and company assets.
• Want to “do it your way” regardless of company standards.
• Are focused on taking knowledge and leaving quickly to start your own brand.
We’re looking for leaders who want to work **with** a company, not just **for** one.
What You Get
At ODDJOB.CA, Senior Technicians are treated like field partners, not gig workers.
You get:
• 🧰 A fully equipped **mobile workshop** – truck, tools, uniforms (within policy).
• 📚 Access to **Odd Job Academy** – onboarding plus ongoing training.
• 💰 A **Pay-to-Perform** system with base share, bonuses, and upside.
• 🚐 **Take-home vehicle** privileges when trusted and compliant with standards.
• 🚀 Growth path to **Master Technician**, trainer, or leadership roles.
• 🧠 Support from office staff who handle scheduling, quoting systems, and billing.
• 🏡 A steady stream of pre-sold, scheduled work with loyal clients.
We handle the business engine.
You own the craft and the field leadership.

Handyman Partner Technician Role
Build a Professional Career Inside a Real System. There comes a point for a lot of skilled people.
You know how to fix things. You solve problems fast. You care how the finished work looks. Clients trust you.
But running everything alone wears you down. You want autonomy. You want variety. You want stability. You do not want chaos. ODDJOB.CA is built for that next stage.
The Work
This is professional home and business service. Not renovations. Most projects are organized lists that range from a few hours to one week.
You will work in homes and in businesses. Many of our clients are businesses that rely on fast, consistent, professional service.
This work rewards people who think, plan, and execute cleanly across multiple tasks.
You manage your day. You communicate clearly. You finish what you start.
The System
Autonomy only works inside standards. We operate with:
Documented processes
Clear expectations for quality and completion
Customer satisfaction tracking
Vehicle and material organization standards
Communication rules that protect the client experience
If you enjoy structure, this feels strong. If you resist standards or prefer doing things your own way, this will feel uncomfortable. We are building disciplined professionals.
What You Receive
Company truck
Fuel covered
Uniforms
Core tools
Consistent workflow
Scheduling and administrative support
You focus on the work and the client experience.
Compensation
Total annual compensation ranges from $55,000 to $70,000+, with upside tied to performance. Eligible team members also participate in profit sharing.
Who Thrives Here
People who stay long term value:
Autonomy within structure
Clear expectations
Organized workflow
Professional clients
Measurable growth
They take pride in:
Clean documentation
Maintained vehicles
Consistent standards
Calm communication
Continuous improvement
They are not trying to be “unique” on every job. They want to master a system and grow inside it.
Long Term Path
We are building long term operators. For the right individuals, growth leads toward operating a defined territory under the ODDJOB.CA brand.
This is earned through consistency, discipline, and performance.
